Collected at Iriomote Island, in southwestern Japan. Flowers white (slide 008). Sepals surround a capsule, swell enormously and change into a balloon-like fruit (slide 009). Sepals open when this fruit becomes ripe. We can see the capsule inside (slide 010). This genus belongs to Merremioids.
