Hirugao, Japanese bindweed Calystegia japonica Choisy

Four species of genus Calystegia grow wild in Japan. Calystegia plants differ from plants of genus Convolvulus in that the former have two pieces of big bracts. The details of this genus are explained in item of genus Calystegia. Leaves of Calystegia japonica are long and halberd-like. Photo in field of Shizuoka city taken 1981.6.18. Genus Calystegia belongs to tribe Convoluvuleae, too.
